UPLIFT stands for “Using Practice and Learning to Increase Favourable Thoughts”. It is a mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural therapy program that improves depression, and overall psychological quality of life. Groups of 5-8 adults meet virtually for an hour once a week for 8 weeks.
The sessions teach valuable coping strategies and topics that include: coping and relaxing, monitoring thoughts, and preventing future low moods.
For this session of UPLIFT, participants must:
- be at least 18 years old
- be the partner to someone who lives with epilepsy, seizures, or a seizure disorder
- and be struggling with depression or anxiety.
This 8-week session takes place on Mondays, from 6:00 – 7:00, March 28 to May 23 (with a break on April 18). It is being led by Stephanie Aniol, a Social Work with Adult Services. This UPLIFT session is specifically for partners of people living with epilepsy; there are other UPLIFT sessions for people living with epilepsy, caregivers to children with epilepsy, or with a focus on employment.
If you are interested in being part of this or any Epilepsy Toronto UPLIFT session, please complete an UPLIFT form.
