Hi, I’m Elana (rhymes with banana!) and I work with young people and their families at Epilepsy Toronto. As the Coordinator of Children and Youth Services, I am here to develop and provide meaningful programming that facilitates connection and empowerment for youth and families impacted by epilepsy. I also provide education and counselling to young people and caregivers to help foster understanding of their diagnosis, enhance coping, and build confidence in living well with epilepsy. My education and training are focused in child development, family systems, and pediatric psychosocial care. I hold an MA in Early Childhood Studies from Ryerson University and have completed post-graduate diplomas in Child Life and Clinical Behavioural Sciences at McMaster University. Prior to joining the team at Epilepsy Toronto, I worked as a child life specialist at McMaster Children's Hospital.
