Epilepsy Toronto is a grassroots community service organization dedicated to promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for individuals with epilepsy and their families. We offer a wide range of support services, including individual and family counselling, group programs, recreation services, employment consultation, conferences, workshops, and public awareness initiatives.
The Diversity Outreach Coordinator will support Epilepsy Toronto’s efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by engaging with diverse communities and fostering inclusive practices within the organization. This is a hybrid role reporting to the Director of Community Engagement & Public Education.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate epilepsy education sessions for community organizations and post-secondary institutions.
- Organize professional development DEI opportunities for staff and clients.
- Partner with racialized communities and community organizations for cultural exchange events.
- Prepare client ambassadors to share their personal stories.
- Plan advisory meetings to inform and shape outreach strategies.
- Represent Epilepsy Toronto at partner events and community booths.
- Support ET staff and programs with DEI initiatives and intake.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, data management, preparation of reports and training resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field
- Experience in DEI training, outreach and advocacy in a non-profit or social service environment
- Strong communication, facilitation and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and with diverse populations within a multidisciplinary team
- Skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual platforms (Zoom, MS Teams)
- Knowledge of epilepsy and second language, an asset
- Ability to travel in GTA for outreach and presentations

Volunteer Opportunity – Twice a month- 3h shift
Honorarium $60 per shift
Location: Dolphin Bingo 1911 Eglinton Ave E, Scarborough, ON M1L 2L6
Epilepsy Toronto is seeking enthusiastic individuals with a passion for customer service to volunteer at Dolphin Bingo. As a charitable BINGO establishment, Dolphin Bingo donates the proceeds of its earnings to charitable partners that provide support services to Toronto residents. The funds raised through volunteer efforts at Dolphin Bingo are vital for Epilepsy Toronto. These funds provide essential support for a variety of programs and services, including counseling, support groups, and educational initiatives. The stable and ongoing funding from Dolphin Bingo allows Epilepsy Toronto to continue offering critical resources to individuals and families affected by epilepsy in the Toronto area.
Position Overview:
Volunteers will work in teams of two or three to assist with various tasks at Dolphin Bingo. These tasks include ensuring the gaming areas are clean, returning beverage containers to the bar, and appropriately disposing of bingo sheets.
Responsibilities:
- Represent Epilepsy Toronto in a professional manner.
- Work collaboratively to maintain a tidy and presentable bingo hall.
- Collect and dispose of discarded bingo sheets.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled shift.
- Wear the Epilepsy Toronto branded shirt provided by the organization.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work for consecutive hours.
- Access to a mobile phone or email for communication.
