Epilepsy Toronto is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by epilepsy across the Greater Toronto Area. For over 60 years, the agency has provided education, advocacy, and employment services that promote inclusion, independence, and community engagement for people living with epilepsy and related conditions. Epilepsy Toronto seeks a Job Developer
The Job Developer is a key member of the Employment Services team, responsible for helping individuals with epilepsy and related disabilities prepare for, secure, and maintain meaningful, competitive employment. This position combines employer engagement with direct client support, ensuring strong partnerships and sustainable employment outcomes.
The role requires both independent work and collaboration with a small, dedicated team that values creativity, flexibility, and shared accountability. The Job Developer will contribute to the overall success of the employment program by achieving performance targets and delivering high-quality services that reflect Epilepsy Toronto’s mission of inclusion and empowerment.
Responsibilities
Employer Engagement:

Build and maintain relationships with local employers to identify inclusive hiring opportunities.

Collaborate with employers to create and implement workplace accommodations and seizure response plans.

Provide post-hire follow-up and retention support to ensure long-term success for both job seekers and employers.

Represent Epilepsy Toronto at community events, job fairs, and employer networking sessions.
Coaching Clients:
-
Support job seekers through individualized coaching, resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies.

Develop and facilitate workshops focused on employment readiness, workplace communication, and job retention.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team objectives and foster a supportive work environment.
Administrative Work:

Track, document, and report on activities and outcomes to ensure compliance with program and funding requirements.

Manage administrative processes, including brokered incentive agreements, case notes, logging paystubs, and handling ERFS payments.
Qualifications:
-
Post-secondary education in social work, marketing, employment counselling, or a related field.

Proven experience in job development, employer engagement, workforce development or B2B sales.

Knowledge of local labour market trends and a wide range of industries.

Experience working with individuals who have disabilities, ideally in a vocational or employment support setting, is a major asset.

Proficient in contacting both cold and warm contacts by cold calling and other outreach means.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both clients and employers.

Experience facilitating workshops and group sessions.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in reporting and documentation.

Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or events, to meet program goals.

Paid Work Experience Opportunities for People Living with Epilepsy: Café for a Cause – Epilepsy Toronto’s Coffee Cart
Epilepsy Toronto has launched Café for a Cause, a social enterprise that raises awareness and funds through pop-up cafés at local events.
We’re looking for members who are interested in working in the Cafe at our upcoming events:
- Halloween Event
- December holiday event
Position: Café Server
Compensation: Ontario’s Minimum Wage
Training: Will be provided.
Qualifications:
- Experience in food service, barista skills, or customer service is an asset
- Friendly, professional demeanour and strong communication skills
- Ability to work on your feet in a fast-paced environment
- Be living with epilepsy
Responsibilities:
- Prepare high-quality coffee, cappuccinos, iced coffee, and lattes and/or Hawaiian Shave Ice
- Deliver excellent customer service with a positive attitude
- Handle basic transactions and maintain the cleanliness of the café area

Volunteer Opportunity – Recreation Group Support
Epilepsy Toronto is looking for a dedicated volunteer to assist with our Recreation Group’s activities. This group creates fun and engaging recreational opportunities for members, helping them build connections and enjoy their time together.
Role:
- Support the coordination and execution of in-person meetings every other Friday from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM (with a latest end time of 5:30 PM).
- Assist the group coordinator, John, in managing activities for the group.
- Help ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.
Note: Volunteers can also attend virtual meetings on alternate Fridays to interact with members and get to know them better.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, make a difference, and help create a positive experience for members of Epilepsy Toronto!
