My name is Arthur and everyday I just want to get better.

I was 33 when I had my stroke and then I was diagnosed with epilepsy. In 2019, up to now, I have had a lot of seizures. Before I had a stroke I was a personal trainer. In the morning, I woke up, worked out, trained two clients, I think it’s just fine and then I had a stroke.

So, the first time when I woke up I thought I was normal, but I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t write, I thought it was a dream. I’m like, ‘something’s not right’.

Once I overcame that, I thought, ‘Okay, this is what’s happened, let me focus on what I can do right now’. I do meditation, and in the evening I do ‘5 things I’m happy for’, and I do my ‘how the day went’. It actually really helps me, my work on my writing, my reading, talking to people. It helps me so that one day I can climb up the mountain, and say, ‘Okay, this mountain is good, but let’s see if we can climb another mountain’.

Life is crazy and weird, but it’s very beautiful, so if you try to have gratitude all the time, you can look and say, ‘you know what, I’m here. I want to get better, but I’m grateful for everything I have and I will try to help other people who I can help’.

At the same time I want to get better, so instead of getting mad, let me just try to be positive and grateful that I’m here, that I can walk and talk.

Anytime you think it’s weird or bad, you want to flip your view on everything.
